Not to be outdone by my son's Harry Potter costume, my daughter was determined to be a convincing and cute little Hermione Granger for book character day. But I had a little trouble figuring out how to accomplish a plain clothes version of Hermione. I mean, other than Hermione's curly hair, what else might tip someone off to who my daughter's story character was. Then I decided my daughter should carry a big book around, specifically, a book Hermione is known to reference regularly. I chose Hogwarts: A History.

The elementary school my kids attend is in the middle of a week-long celebration of reading. Today, my kids had the opportunity to dress up as their favorite book characters. Since we are currently going through the Harry Potter series, my kids decided they would go to school dressed as Harry Potter and Hermione Granger.

Of course I had to make special lunches for my little valentines!
I hand-cut the cheese pieces and strawberries into hearts and used this idea from Pinterest for the heart tomatoes. The cookie is from a lip and heart pack by Bite Me, and the heart crackers were lovingly sorted from boxes of Annie's Organic Bunny Classics Buttery Rich and Organic Bunny Classics Cheddar.
Happy Valentine's Day!

My kids aren't allowed to bring candy to school for Valentine's Day. So this year I decided I'd get on the mustache bandwagon by making some fan-stache-tic valentines for my kids to share with their friends.

How does one fuse together Hello Kitty and an arcade party? My answer to that question was this: pixelate the kitty!
My daughter is having a half-birthday party this year since her real birthday landed during a difficult time of year. I won't do much for her party -- the fun center takes care of most things -- but at least my daughter's invitations will reflect her personality a little bit!
